In addition, onGEO’s undergraduate courses can be taken through the Lifelong Education program at Michigan State University and are eligible for continuing education clock-hour credits (with approval).

Professional Courses offered this Fall 2024
We offer two 7-week long sessions of Professional Certificate Courses over the fall semester. Registration is open.

- IGT624: Introduction to Geospatial Technology (GIS Certificate)
- GIS624: Geographic Information Systems (GIS Certificate)
- CART624: Cartography (GIS & GDAV Certificate)
- CART624: Cartography (GDAV & GIS Certificate)
- PAPG624: Python & ArcPy Geoprocessing (GDAV Certificate)
- CJ624: Criminal Justice Applications in GIS (Elective)
These 7-week professional development courses can be taken individually or in combination (4) to earn a Professional Certificate in GIS or Geospatial Data Analytics & Visualization Certificate. These certificates aim to advance the skill set of professionals currently working in fields that use geospatial technologies. It is also an excellent opportunity for all professionals and others looking to revamp their current career, earn continuing-education or teaching credits, or simply further their education.
The GIS Certificate consists of four fully online courses: Introduction to Geospatial Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and Cartography. And, the Geospatial Data Analytics & Visualization Certificate consists of four fully online courses: Cartography, Geovisualization: Temporal and Interactive Mapping, Python and ArcPy Geoprocessing, and Spatial Statistics.
In addition to content-based modules, each Certificate course features a series of online labs designed to give students hands-on experience using geographic information systems (GIS) and related technologies and improve technical competency.
Would you like to earn a Professional Certificate and also earn credits? You can do that, too. Just register for the undergraduate versions of our professional GIS courses (GEO 221v, GEO 221LABv, GEO 324v, GEO 325v, and GEO 326v) or our professional GDAVE couress (GEO 326v, GEO 426, GEO429, and GEO 886). OnDemand Course offered this Fall 2024
Additionally we offer fully online courses that range from 1 to 7+ weeks in length, are self-paced, and can be signed up for at any time. Each class created will cover a single topic, such as Interpreting Wetlands, Maps & Apps, StoryMaps, Using LiDAR Imagery, Google Earth Engine, GIS Field Data Collection, and more.
