BIO

Dr. Yi Shi teaches, develops, and manages the Professional Courses for the onGEO group of the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences at Michigan State University. Dr. Shi's Bachelor's (1992) and Master's (1995) degrees are in Geography from Nanjing University and his Ph.D. is in Geography (specializing in GIS; 2008) from Michigan State University. After earning his Ph.D., Dr. Shi worked as a GIS and Research Specialist for the Institute of Water Research, Precision Agriculture Lab at Michigan State and, more recently, in the private sector. Dr. Shi has a wide range of research, teaching and professional experiences in the world of geospatial technologies and their applications. Dr. Shi has developed many GIS applications for different clients including governments at all levels. When he is not working, Yi enjoys traveling and playing tennis.
