In this online cartography course, students will learn techniques for creating well-designed maps for a variety of output media. Maps can provide important visual explanations of complex geographic information. This course introduces students to topics essential to good map design, including graphic design principles, typography, and visual variables.

Lab exercises provide multiple opportunities for hands-on experience with map-making and web design software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator and ArcGIS Pro.

Certificate: This course is required for the Professional GIS Certificate and the Professional Geospatial Data Analytics & Visualization Certificate.
